When Ohio temperatures dip below freezing you need to have your RV properly winterized.
When temperatures are below freezing all RV’s coming in for service must either be winterized or winterization must be part of the service requested.
Wilson RV can not be responsible for any RV’s that have been frozen prior to
drop off.
HOW WE WINTERIZE YOUR RV
We have been winterizing RV’s for decades and understand the plumbing system, how it is designed, and the proper procedure for winterizations.
We recommend using the least possible amount of RV antifreeze that will provide a safe guaranteed winterization.
RV antifreeze tends to chemically change over long durations of time. This chemical change may cause the RV antifreeze to “leach” into your plastic water lines, fresh water tank, water heater, and other components. We frequently see RV’s that have this issue. It can cause a bad odor in the fresh water system. Many times, this odor cannot be removed from the system.
We recommend not keeping the same RV antifreeze in your RV for more than 1 winter season. RV antifreeze should be flushed out once temperatures are safely above freezing.
At Wilson RV, we do not add RV antifreeze to the fresh water tank or water heater tank. We drain the fresh water and water heater tanks and leave them empty. We ensure the water pump has enough antifreeze in it for freeze protection, and the water heater has been bypassed to prevent filling it with antifreeze during the winterization process.
Once winterized, we set everything back to “normal operation” so you will be ready to flush and fill next season.
